Spring Mountain Bible Church holds the following as core values. While we are committed to these values, we are also open to fresh ways of expressing them as we seek to fulfill our God-given mandates.
Because we value the unity of all who have faith in Jesus Christ, our fellowship is open to all who are followers of Jesus Christ. Our teaching stresses the core beliefs of the Christian faith our outreach includes cooperative ventures with followers of Jesus Christ from other local churches, denominations, and Christian organizations. (John 17:20-23; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 4:1-6)
Because we value the centrality of Christ’s redemptive work on the cross, we celebrate Communion on a weekly basis. (Matthew 26-27; Mark 14-15; Luke 22-23; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34)
Because we value the Great Commission, we encourage, train, and empower individual members to fulfill the Great Commission. We make opportunities for creative, clear-cut presentations of the Gospel. We cooperate with the whole Church in ministering to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of hurting people. We give priority to supporting missionaries commissioned from Spring Mountain. (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15)
Because we value the Lordship of Jesus Christ over the congregation, we stress the obedience that comes from faith, we seek His guidance through prayer, and we exercise loving and scriptural church discipline for the purpose of repentance and restoration. (Ephesians 4:1-16 [especially verses 15-16]; 1 Peter 5:1-4; Revelation 1-3; Matthew 18:15-19)
Because we value the Word of God, we focus our preaching and teaching on expositing its meaning, formulating its doctrines, and applying its truths to all aspects of life. (1 Timothy 4:13-16; 2 Timothy 2:1-2 and 3:14-17; James 1:19-27; 2 Peter 1:12-21)
Because we value the priesthood and ministry of every believer among us, we foster the development and deployment of spiritual gifts among all believers, we encourage every member to active ministry within Spring Mountain and with God-honoring ministries in our community. We encourage prayer for Spring Mountain’s leaders, ministries, and its growth in faithfulness and fruitfulness, we avoid the concentration of ministry in professional clergy. (Romans 12; Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 4:16-17)
Because we value the local church as a community of believers, we encourage a grace-filled atmosphere where life’s challenges can be openly and confidentially shared, we share the responsibility to love each other, to pray for each other, and to speak the truth to each other in love, we discourage all forms of divisive gossip or slander, we encourage regular participation in corporate activities, we give financially to the ministries of Spring Mountain as the Lord enables. (Romans 12; Colossians 3:12-17; Ephesians 4:29-32; Hebrews 10:19-25; 2 Corinthians 8-9)
Because we value personal, family, and corporate discipleship, we encourage every member to actively participate in a regular small group, Bible study, or other discipling encounter. (Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 4:17-5:21; 2 Timothy 2:1-2 and 2:15; 1 Peter 1:13-16)
Because we value Biblical leadership, we develop mature men to serve as Elders and mature men and women to serve as Ministry Team Leaders. (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-7; 1 Peter 5:1-5)
